Objectives: This study investigated influencing factors to the intention to use of personal health records (PHR) and developed study model based on technology acceptance model (TAM).
Methods: By reviewing the previous research about PHR based on TAM and survey researches on the PHR, the related variables of the intention to use PHR were identified. The survey consisted of 3 questions per each construct: healthcare innovation (HI), health literacy (HL), perceived security (PS), perceived ease of use (PEU), perceived usefulness (PU), and intention to use (IU) and was questioned on the 5-point Likert scale. The result data of survey were analyzed by conducting the structural equation model analysis.
Results: HI and HL had a positive effect on PEU and PS was also positively associated with PEU and PU. In addition, PEU had a positive effect on PU and the combination of PEU and PU were positively related to IU of PHR.
Conclusions: Contrary to expectations, the direct effect of HI and HL on PU was not significant. As a result, HI and HL of PEU take on more significance and PS on PEU, PU also was significant.
